The members of the delegation expressed their “astonishment” and “admiration” for the quality of the infrastructures in the city of Laayoune, underlining their willingness to discover the investment potential in the Moroccan Sahara in promising sectors such as fishing and renewable energies.

Maria Tatu and the accompanying delegation of Basque businessmen confirmed their willingness to join forces with Moroccan Saharan businessmen to develop joint projects in the fields of fishing and renewable energy. In addition, Spanish Basque companies have diversified their activities on a global scale and express their interest in sectors involving important and fruitful partnerships with Moroccan partners, in addition to raw material recycling industries.

Sidi Khalil Ouled Errachid explained that the growth of the Moroccan economy and the stability of Morocco encourage us to promote investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties for sustainable human development.

He explained that this region is witnessing a “remarkable” development thanks to the important investments that have been made since the launch of the development model of the Kingdom’s southern regions by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, stressing that the human development indicators in Laayoune are the best compared to other parts of the Kingdom.
