On this very day, August 14, 1979, the city of Rabat witnessed an extraordinary and momentous event, as large delegations of eminent scholars, dignitaries, notables and tribal chiefs from the Oued Ed-Dahab region arrived in the capital, carrying with them the spirit of authenticity and sincere belonging, to renew the bonds of the legitimate and historic allegiance — an allegiance whose roots run deep into history — to His Majesty the late King Hassan II, may God rest his soul. This momentous event was a powerful and decisive expression of the region’s unwavering and unconditional attachment to the glorious Alaouite Throne and to sacred national unity, and it also sent a strong and clear message to the entire world: that the Moroccan people, in all their components and from every corner of the country, from north to south, stand united behind their throne and legitimate leadership, firmly committed to the unity of their land and territory.
